Purpose:
Responsible for overseeing and managing airside operations during shift hours to ensure safe aircraft, vehicular and equipment movement, compliance with safety regulations, apron discipline and coordination among various stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
1. Apron Management – coordinate and provide support within the movement area as per applicable DGCA regulations
2. Support in Aerodrome Licensing Process, documentation and necessary coordination
3. Ensure regular inspections and audits of airside operations to identify and mitigate potential hazards
4. Provide support in checking and verifying all infrastructure, procedures and processes for regulatory compliance prior to commissioning; Make recommendations/report for corrective action to be taken and implement where necessary
5. Train Ground Ops manpower on operational procedures, regulatory requirements, NIA’s manuals and SOPs. Periodic updates on safety procedures, emergency protocols, and any changes in regulations or operational practices.
6. Enforce apron discipline and raise violations and issue penalties where required
7. Act as first point of contact for any incident or accident occurring on the airside. Assess the situation, ensure immediate safety, coordinate and liaise initial response with relevant stakeholders; Initiate report and maintain records
8. Implement necessary precautions to handle adverse weather operations
9. Maintain accurate records of airside operations, incidents, and any deviations from standard procedures.
10. Monitor operation of Aircraft, vehicles and equipment at Airside and operational activities to ensure safe and orderly movement; Prevent and resolve operational disruptions and delays
11. Monitor and evaluate emergency response effectiveness and provide recommendations for improvement
12. Ensure adherence to NIA’s Airside Rules and Regulations manual and SOPs, CAR regulations and company policies at all times
13. Communicate with ATC, AAI, E&M, GHAs and other relevant stakeholders on operational requirement and to resolve any conflicts or issues
14. Prepare and submit reports as required by management and regulatory authorities
15. Work on specific projects/tasks as and when assigned by Head Airside Operations
Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in science or related field
Certifications:
1. Relevant aviation certifications (e.g., DGCA regulations (CAR), ICAO Annexes, Safety Management Systems) preferred.
2. Valid driving license (atleast LMV category)
